SACO — Police arrested a transient man in relation to a robbery reported at the Ramada Hotel in Saco on Sunday.
Police were called to the Ramada by Wyndham hotel at 352 North St. in Saco about 5:19 p.m. Sunday, according to Saco Deputy Police Chief Jack Clements.
“Responding officers learned that a male subject entered the lobby area, produced a dark colored semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money,” Clements said.
An undisclosed amount of money was stolen and the man left the building through the front door, said Clements.
Police posted a description and photo of the offender on social media and sent a press release to local news organizations on Sunday asking for the public’s help in locating him.
Saco police received a crime tip on Monday morning that the suspect from Sunday’s reported robbery was spotted on Main Street in Biddeford, according to Clements.
Members of the Biddeford Police Departments Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division responded to the area and established surveillance, according to Clements.
A short time later, police located and detained Cody Lott, 36 a transient from Kansas.
Lott was arrested on a charge of Class A robbery. He was transported to the York County Jail in Alfred where bail was set at $5,000.
“The Saco Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance in this case,” said Clements.
The case is still under investigation by the Saco Police Department.
