SANFORD — The apparent failure of a motorist to comply with a new traffic pattern on Main Street in Sanford has led to his arrest on three outstanding warrants and on a slew of new charges. As well, two others in the vehicle were charged with misdemeanor drug crimes.

Sanford Deputy Police Chief Tim Strout said Officer Jared Archambault was monitoring traffic around 1:3 p.m. on Sunday where a traffic signal had been relocated from the area near Burger King and Mardens to the entrance to Sanford High School and Old Mill Road.

Strout said Archambault noticed Christopher Rock, 30, of Saco, failed to obey the new traffic pattern and the officer stopped the vehicle.

As a result, Rock was arrested on three outstanding warrants charging violation of conditions of release. As well, he was charged with operating after suspension, operating with an expired license and two additional counts of violating conditions of release. All are Class E misdemeanors, said Strout.

Jacob Burks, 31, of Dover, New Hampshire, was charged with Class D misdemeanor possession of Soboxone.

Alison Gauthier, 25, of Springvale, was charged with Class D misdemeanor possession of Suboxone and methamphetamine, possession of hypodermic apparatus and two counts of violating conditions of release. Both were passengers in the Rock’s vehicle.
