“The proper use of imagination is to give beauty to the world. The gift of imagination is used to cast over the commonplace workaday world a veil of beauty and make it throb with our esthetic enjoyment.” Lin Yu-y’at

Time is not frozen. Time does not stand still. One day follows another—–Sunday, Monday,Tuesday turning into weeks and months. These are the punctuation marks of time. January. February. Summer, winter, fall, spring. Sunset, noon, sunrise, midnight. Into our ordinary days there are snowfalls, wind storms, rainfall, waking and sleeping.

Ours is a stimulating world and a life full of routine. When we have a dream or a heart’s desire we work at it with an output of creative energy. It becomes a precious experience. A commitment!  We do not live or create in isolation. Creativity is medicine. Creative changes begin in the heart and move outward expressing what we love and what we value.

I received two e-mails from organizations that want interaction and connection to help the aging in our community. They are listening with the most tender of hearts. We are all connected.

Everything begins with an idea. These organizations can clearly see the things they are trying to build.  They are focused on making life better for the aging and making it possible for them to stay in their homes. They have a vision and need the precision and help to bring that project to form.

As a free public service the Altrusa Club of Biddeford and Age Friendly Saco invite the public to attend the seminar at the Wardwell Home on Monday, March 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. Two local experts will be dealing with “Elder Exploitation” and “Scam Safety.”

Altrusa and Age Friendly Saco want to commute safety to all of us, especially to the aging of our community. Altrusa is not well known. Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making our communities better through leadership, partnership, and service.

The club offers an opportunity to make a real difference in greater Biddeford and Saco to keep our community safe for the aging.

The guest speakers with creative energy, gentle coaching and genuine enthusiasm will address us.  They want to protect us from those who will exploit our vulnerability. I don’t like to admit it, but I have been cheated. I trusted where I should not have. I was a new widow at the time. Live and learn. Also scam calls are annoying, disturbing and interfere with our work. There are far too many. Why can’t something be done to stop them? The public – the people are complaining!

Let me introduce you to the speakers for that evening. Candice Simeoni of the Kennebunk Police Department and Linda Bridges, Internal Control Specialist and Security officer of Kennebunk Savings Bank.

The Biddeford Cultural and Heritage Center has just concluded its first fiscal year. Their mission is to “Celebrate, preserve, share and teach the culture, diversity, heritage and history of the city of Biddeford, its people and surrounding area.”

Their programs include Voices, Oral Interview History, the Biddeford Hall of Fame and occasional presentation of other events. They are working on a Mission Day Event aiming for October, a USO fundraiser and have a lecture planned for June of this year.

They need lots of help in many different ways. Any and all help will be appreciated. I met Diane Cyr, board member and founder, and Amander Strayer, volunteer coordinator, on my show.
