FALMOUTH — Water service to about 50 homes in the Longwoods Road neighborhood was restored Monday evening after it took nearly two days to repair a water main that broke Saturday night, Jan. 19.

Howard Rice Jr., director of the Falmouth Emergency Management Agency, said service was restored around 6:30 p.m. He said the intersection near Woods Road, which had been closed to allow repairs, reopened around 8:30 p.m.

Rice said residents had no drinking water, water to flush toilets, or water to take showers. The town’s Fire Department offered drinking water on Monday evening, but no one took advantage of that offer.

Crews from the Portland Water District repaired the line, the town said in a statement.
