BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford High boys basketball team continued its push for a Class A South playoff spot with a 59-47 win over Sanford on Saturday.
Carter Edgerton led the way with 15 points and Cody Saucier had 14 points for the Tigers, who have won two straight games and are now 3-7 on the season.
Biddeford would also get 11 points from Ashton Crowell and Alex McAlevey added nine points in the win.
Sanford, which dropped to 2-9, would get a game-high 19 points from Leyton Bickford. Matt Romano chipped in 12 points in the loss.
Wells 55, Kennebunk 53
The Warriors jumped out to an 8-point halftime lead and would hold on for a big win over the rival Rams on Saturday.
Wells (5-3) would get 19 points from Gavyn Leighton and Matt Sherburne finished with 15 points. Tyler Bridge added nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Zack Sullivan led Kennebunk (8-2) with 20 points.
Old Orchard Beach 46, Poland 42
Ryan Crockett put up 21 points and hauled in 14 rebounds to power the Seagulls over Poland on Saturday.
OOB (4-5) would also get 17 points and 10 rebounds from Zach LaPlante.
The Seagulls gave up 16 points in the first quarter, but they would only allow 26 points the rest of the way.
Girls Basketball
Old Orchard Beach 42, Poland 35
Sophomore guard Shani Plante put up a game-high 19 points and had six steals to lead the Lady Gulls to the win on Saturday.
Maggie Strohm added eight points and 14 rebounds to help OOB improve to 7-2 on the season.
Kennebunk 49, Wells 39
Alexandra Weisheit scored 17 points and Emily Archibald added 15 to lead the Rams over rival Wells on Saturday.
Kennebunk (8-2) would outscore the Warriors 15-7 in the third quarter as they took a 9-point lead into the fourth.
Wells (5-3) was led by Franny Ramsdell with 15 points.
Boys Hockey
Massabesic/OOB/Bonny Eagle 5, Marshwood/Traip/Sanford/Noble 2
Aiden Russell scored just 55 seconds into the game and MOB would cruise to the win from there.
Brady Cormier finished with two goals and Grayson Krause scored once and added two assists in the win.
Gavin Sperlich, who is a freshman at OOB, stopped 17 shots in goal for MOB.
Marshwood would get goals from Braden Butler and Eli Janetos.
