Bath – Marie R. Lanzarone, 91 of Union St. passed away peacefully Friday December 28, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Long Island, NY on July 1, 1927 a daughter of Domenico and Lucia Vecchiarello and was educated in the local schools there.
On October 1, 1950 she married Michael A. Lanzarone at St. Mary’s Church in Long Island, NY. They moved to Bath in 1961 where her husband was working for SupShips and they made their life here raising four daughters.
Marie was an accomplished seamstress working in New York City making wedding gowns. Later working in Bath at Congress Sportswear and later Healthtex.
She loved spending time with her family more than anything else in life. It didn’t have to be a holiday to gather on a Sunday for a dish of pasta and spend time as family. Marie was full of love, compassion and strength. She was an avid Bingo player and loved playing cards with her friends; luncheons with her daughters; and traveling with her husband to many destinations. She had a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up any room.
Marie was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Cosmopolitan Club.
She is predeceased by her husband who died October 5, 2008; and a brother, Rocco Vecchiarello.
Surviving are her four daughters; Joanne Hart and her husband Richard of Bath, Lucille Lanzarone of Bath, Kathryn Bollinger of Brunswick, and Benita Lanzarone and her husband Peter Doran of Phippsburg; a sister, Florence Algeria and her husband Dominick of Melbourne, FL; six grandchildren, Mike Hart and his wife Stephanie, John Hart, Amy LaCavera and her husband John, Anthony Bonzagni and his wife Kimberli, Chris Hart, Alec Bollinger and his fiancé Jessica; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting will be held Friday January 4th from 4pm – 6pm at the David E Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St Bath. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday January 5th at 11am at St. Mary’s Church in Bath. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to a charity of your choice in Marie’s memory.
