
ALFRED — If all the years those recognized on Wednesday for their service to York County government were added together, the total would be 290 years.
During the county employee recognition ceremonies on Wednesday, there were milestones marked for 18 county employees, ranging from those who work in the York County Registry of Deeds, the York County District Attorney’s Office, in finance, treasurer, county manager’s office and facilities departments and the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Among those accepting awards from county commissioners and their department heads for their years of service was Debra Ham, who is marking 30 years with the York County Registry of Deeds.
“I’ve learned a lot in my 30 years,” she said. “And every day, I learn something new.”
Rachel Sherman marked 20 years of work, starting out in the commissioners’ and Treasurer’s Offices and later transferring to the York County District Attorney’s Office.
Lorene Lemieux began working for the York County Emergency Management Agency and later transferred to the county’s Finance Department, and is a 15 year employee.

Administrative Assistant Kathryn Dumont is celebrating 10 years.
Roger Lanoie and Jason Gaudette and Stephen Kurtz all corrections staff at York County Jail, received certificates of appreciation for service and a hearty handshake from York County Sheriff William L. King Jr. Lanoie and Gaudette marked 15 years with the department, and it was 10 years for Kurtz.
Several employees were unable to attend the event, including Jennifer Kern, marking 20 years with the District Attorney’s Office, and Richard Gaudette, with 15 years in the Facilities Department. At York County Jail, Gerald Therrien marked 30 years; Michael Leary, 20; Kelly Burnham, 15; Michael Raleigh, 15; Kerry Chalmers, 10; and Jason Drouin, 10. In the Sheriff’s Office Police Services Division,. Michael Hayes marked 20 years and Robert Carr, 10 years.
