A Biddeford man died after being struck by two different vehicles on the Maine Turnpike in Saco on Saturday.
Tyler Seaver, 27, was struck first by a passenger vehicle and then by a tractor-trailer in the northbound lane around 3 a.m.
Maine State Police are still trying to determine if Seaver was walking along the highway or trying to cross it, Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said Saturday evening.
“There is no vehicle anywhere that is connected to him,” he said.
Northbound lanes on the turnpike were shut down for four hours and traffic was rerouted. Lanes reopened at 7:15 a.m.
The passenger car was driven by James Yionen, 47, and the truck was operated by Christoph Phillips, 49, whose hometowns were not immediately available, McCausland said. Nether driver was injured in the collision.
Police are trying to determine where and how the Seaver got onto the turnpike.
