Kathleen Lorraine Malm (Peavey) peacefully at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, ME on December 6, 2018 at the age of 70.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Allan Malm and their children, Shannon Malm and her partner Scott Morrissette and Christian Malm and his partner, James Hughes. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter, Sydney Terison and her son in law Steve Terison who she loved dearly. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and close friends she considered her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Miriam Peavey (Nichols) and Ralph Warren Peavey and her siblings Madeline ‘Honey’ Whittier and her husband Chester “Chet” Whittier and her brother Frank Bernard Peavey.
Kathleen was born on May 19, 1948 in Yarmouth Maine to Gladys and Ralph Peavey. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1966. She attended Pierre’s School of Beauty and began working at June’s Beauty Salon. She married the love of her life, Allan Malm, on October 27, 1968. She later became a Customer Service Team Leader at LL Bean and enjoyed her career there until retiring. She also worked at Mast Landing School for a time in the front office where she loved seeing all the children each day. Her last career was to open and operate Elan Hair Studio with her daughter, Shannon before hanging up her scissors in 2008.
Kathy enjoyed volunteering her time and helping others. She was active for many years with the Freeport Lioness Club serving in the President and Secretary positions. She was also a dedicated church member of the Pownal First Parish Congregational Church and enjoyed her participation in the Ladies Aide, Prayer Warriors and Prayer Shawl Ministry.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday, January 12th at 11am at the First Parish Congregational Church of Pownal, ME with a reception to follow in the lower level of the church. Pastor John Wentworth will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathleen’s life.
