My true love Perry G. Colon has passed on at the age of 60. He died Sunday the 11th 2018, Veterans Day, after suffering complications from a major stroke. Originally from New York City, he served in the U.S. Navy and found his way to Maine serving on the USS Detroit back in 1976. In October of 1976 we met in a haunted house put on by the Bath/Brunswick Jaycees. I played one of the witches in the witches room and he played Dracula in the coffin room. We fell in love and were married in 1979. Perry was a chef for many years in the Bath-Brunswick area. He also worked construction for a number of years. Learning that skill allowed us to build our own beautiful home here in Dresden. He became involved with the Dresden volunteer fire department and found EMS to be his next calling. He worked in South Portland as a paramedic for 14 years. He enjoyed watching westerns and war movies, cooking for his family and playing his guitar. He leaves behind his wife of 39 years Laura Latocha Colon, their daughter Samantha Colon of Dresden, their two sons Jonathan Colon of Texas, Alexander Colon, also of Dresden, his two sisters Michelle (Albert) Hagerthy of Woolwich, Lisa Colon of Kapolei, Oahu, Hawaii, two other siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends. He is loved by all, and will be forever missed. The celebration of life will be held on Sunday the 25th of November at the American Legion in Bath at 3 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
