He can fish for a lifetime

The Sebago Lake Anglers’ Association recently presented Eli Messer with a Maine Youth Lifetime Fishing and Hunting License.

The lifetime license is a state program for children under age 16 that aims to encourage fishing, hunting and trapping in Maine. Wherever their lives may take them these kids will always be legally licensed in Maine. Recipients, of course, still must complete appropriate training and safety courses.

Eli’s license was funded by the Sebago Lake Anglers’ Association, which funds multiple fishing licenses for children each year through the proceeds of their annual Togue Derby on Sebago Lake. The Messers funded Eli’s hunting portion of the lifetime license, which was presented at a Sportsmens’ Alliance of Maine banquet last month in Waterville.

Trick or treat

The Raymond Village Library will once again collect candy donations for Main Street trick or treating on Halloween night. Donations can be dropped off during regular library hours and will be sorted and distributed the week before Halloween. Library hours are Monday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is located at 3 Meadow Road.

Plants wanted

It is time to start preparing your garden for the winter. When you clean up your garden and divide your thriving perennials, the library would love to have your extras. The annual plant sale is a major fundraiser for the Raymond Village Library. Any kind of plant will be accepted. You can place the plants under the tents at the side of the library or up in the garden shed in the Community Garden. Volunteer gardeners will take care of them for the winter and sell them in annual library sale in the spring. If you need to have your plants picked up, call the library at 655-4283 and arrangements will be made.
