ALFRED — A Lyman man convicted of striking another boat with his own on Wadleigh Pond last year, injuring four occupants, was convicted Thursday of reckless conduct following a day long jury trial.

York County District Attorney Kathryn Slattery in a news release issued Monday afternoon said York County Superior Court Justice Daniel Driscoll ordered Matthew Campbell, 43, be taken into custody following the verdict.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Campbell was operating a pontoon boat on the pond without lights just before midnight on July 8, 2017, when he struck another boat. The four aboard were all treated at a local hospital and released, Slattery said.

According to Slattery, a jury returned a guilty verdict on four counts of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.

The case was investigated by Eric Blanchard of the Maine Warden Service.

Further details were not released.
