SACO — The Biddeford field hockey team picked up a 2-0 win over rival Thornton Academy on Thursday night.
Biddeford opened up the scoring with 14:46 left in the first half when Megan Mourmouras scored the Tiger’s first goal.
With 27:48 left in the contest, Brooklyn Goff scored off a pass from Paige Laverriere to produce the final 2-0 score.
Thornton goalie Jenica Botting made six saves. Biddeford goalie Taylor Wildes made eight saves in the shutout.
Massabesic 3, Sanford 2
Emma Snyder’s second-half goal gave Massabesic the win over Sanford on Thursday night.
Sanford took a 1-0 lead early in the contest before Snyder and Emily Jacobs scored to give Massabesic the 2-1 lead.
Before the first half ended, the Spartan’s Alysha Simpson scored to tie things up.
With 12 minutes left in regulation, Snyder scored the game winner for Massabesic.
Golf
Biddeford 13, Sanford 0
Biddeford’s Carter Burnell fired a round of 37 to help the Tigers triumph over Sanford during a matchup on Thursday night.
Brian Perrault, Hunter Demeule, Randy Guay, Seth Perry and Mason Stagg also earned wins for Biddeford.
Thornton Academy 7, Greely 6
Armand Ouellette drilled a round of 36 to help Thornton secure their win over Greely on Thursday night.
Thornton also received wins from Manuel Barbachano, YoYo Wu and Nick Burton.
Ben Rosenthal, Andrew Klein and DJ Kenney generated victories for the Rangers.
Volleyball
Falmouth 3, Biddeford 0
The Biddeford volleyball team fell to Falmouth 26-24, 25-23, 25-22 during a close matchup on Thursday night.
Gracie Martin led the way for Biddeford with 18 kills and Brooke Reissfelder finished with 22 assists.
The Tigers will host South Portland on Tuesday.
