On Nov. 6, the voters of Yarmouth will have the opportunity to provide our growing student population with updated, right-sized schools. The two bond questions on the ballot propose a major renovation of Yarmouth Elementary School and an expansion of Yarmouth High School (Question 1) and additions to Rowe School and Harrison Middle School (Question 2).

The need is clear: Yarmouth’s student population has increased nearly 20 percent in the past 10 years. With each of our buildings near or over capacity, we now have classrooms in portables, on carts, even in lobbies and stairwells. Two independent studies indicate this trend will continue for at least the next 10 years. These projects are necessary, and the time to do them is now.

We encourage you to read the information on the Yarmouth School Department website and to vote yes on both questions.
