BRUNSWICK — Servicemembers, veterans and family members gathered on the Brunswick Mall Friday morning in remembrance of prisoners of war and those missing in action.
The ceremony, organized by the Brunswick American Legion, included “A Table Set for One.” During the ceremony, representatives of the five branches of the U.S. military set places at a table for those who cannot be there, whether they are prisoners of war or missing in action. During the event, the legion recognized the 12 Vietnam War POW/MIAs and the 46 Mainers who are still unaccounted for from the Korean War.
“Let us remember those of use who have not come home. Let us find those people and bring them home,” said David Watson. “The only way to do that is through pressure on our elected officials.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
