Alan Jerald Greenwald, 79, formerly of Birmingham, AL and Hattiesburg, MS, died on September 15, 2018, in Topsham, ME, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He is survived by sons Daniel and wife Jennifer of Waunakee, WI and Aaron and wife Liza of Brunswick, ME, four grandchildren: Tallulah, Judah, Micah and Jagger, as well as cousins and longtime friends, near and far.
He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Joan, whom he met when both were serving in the United States Air Force.
Alan will be most remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, and physician. He was a proud and highly respected Fellow of the American College of Physicians, specializing in gastroenterology. He will be missed by many.
The family wishes to thank all of Alan’s caregivers at The Highlands of Topsham and Mid Coast Medical Group (Topsham), who so attentively cared for him.
Donations can be made in Alan’s memory to the Miami University Foundation (Ohio), the University of Cincinnati Foundation, the Highlands Resident Assistance Fund, or the charity of your choice.
