SANFORD — The Sanford boys soccer team suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Cheverus Stags on Tuesday night.
Jack Mullen scored three times for the Stags (4-1-1). Michael Nason scored once and also had an assist.
Cheverus would also get assists from Mullen and Nolan Doherty in the win.
The Spartans (2-5) would avoid the shutout thanks to goals from Nic Adornetto and Cole Randt. Kevin Voter and Patrick Powell added assists in the loss.
Sanford goalie Garrett Gallant made 12 saves. Cheverus goalie Harrison Bell made seven saves in the win.
Sanford will travel to Bonny Eagle on Thursday night.
Golf
Gorham 9.5, Thornton Academy 3.5
Gorham golf overpowered Thornton Academy on Tuesday night.
Tyler Haines, Trevor Loubier, Adian Enck, Jayden Gaudreau and Peter Boswell all earned wins for Gorham.
Armand Ouellette, Tyler Snell and Nick Burton picked up wins for Thornton.
