BRUNSWICK

Two talented girls high school soccer teams met up on Thursday, as undefeated Brunswick hosted two-loss Bangor in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play.

In the end, the teams ended right where they started — all tied up.

Anna Kousky scored the tying goal for the Dragons in the second half for a 2-2 tie with the Rams.

Emma Banks also tallied a goal for Brunswick (4-0-1), with assists going to Jenna Roane and Isabella Banks.

Bangor (2-2-1) received a goal each from Olivia Drake and Celia de Diego.

Brunswick returns to action on Tuesday at Morse.

YORK 2

The Falcons and Wildcats ended in a Western Maine Conference deadlock at York.

Catriona Gould gave Freeport (2-1-2) a 1-0 lead just 37 seconds into the game off an assist from Caroline Smith.

York tied the game and took the lead on a pair of tallies by Nina Howe for a 2-1 edge with 27:13 remaining in regulation.

Freeport tied the game with 10:20 remaining when Carly Intraversato punched in a free kick.

York (3-1-1) held a 14-11 shot advantage, with Freeport netminder Leah Rusiecki turning away 12 shots, including a game-saving stop in the first overtime period.

Wildcat goaltender Lily Brodsky had nine saves.

The Falcons host Cape Elizabeth on Monday at 5 p.m.

GPC 1

Pine Tree Academy earned its first win (1-3), downing Greater Portland Christian (1- 3) at South Portland.

Anna Marden, Emily Rojas, Abigayle Stearman and Paige Tyson scored as the Breakers.

The Breakers host Vinalhaven today at 1 p.m.

Field hockey

GARDINER — Piper Lavoie had two goals and an assist as Gardiner rolled to a 5-0 KVAC win over Morse in a battle of unbeatens.

Morse (3-1) is slated to visit Erskine Academy on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Boys soccer

SOUTH PORTLAND — Chris Amisi, Jahiesh Stewart and Evan Owen chipped in two goals apiece to pace Pine Tree Academy (1-2) to a 6-0 halftime lead and eventual 8-0 win over Greater Portland Christian (1-2).

Josiah Yeaton and Solomon Hill also scored for the Breakers

After three straight losses, including a 2-0 setback at home against Mt. Ararat on Tuesday, Mark Roma’s team needed a spark.

Ben Guindon provided that, as his goal with five minutes left in regulation allowed the Dragons to play unbeaten Bangor (3-0-2) to a KVAC tie.

“All of the kids battled, just a total team effort,” said Roma, whose team is 0-3-2 heading into Tuesday’s home contest with Morse (3:30 p.m.).

Everett Horch assisted on the Brunswick goal, and netminder Jack McDiarmid made nine saves for the Dragons.
