OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach football team picked up a 28-6 win over Sacopee Valley on Friday night.
The Seagulls (1-1) nearly scored their first touchdown five minutes into the first quarter. Sean Pratt rushed 50 yards only to have his touchdown be overturned because of a holding penalty.
OOB would get on the board with 6:58 left in the first quarter when Dale Lord carried the football into the end zone from 15 yards out. The Seagulls would add on a two-point converstion to make it 8-0.
That would not be the only touchdown for the first quarter, with one minute left, Sean Pratt would get a second chance at the end zone and rush 80 yards to make the score 14-0.
While the Gulls scored two touchdowns during the first half, the Hawks (0-2) were only able to rush 29 yards during the opening two periods.
“I like the way we came out” said OOB coach Dean Plante.
The Gulls third touchdown came during the third quarter, at 6:59, Pratt rushed 34 yards to record his second touchdown of the night.  After a completed two-point conversion, the score was 22-0.
The last touchdown for the Gulls happened during the last seconds of the third quarter. David Anderson caught a pass from Lord and produced a 28-0 score.
“It felt good. When the ball was in the air I was just thinking that if I caught it, it meant a touchdown,” said Anderson.
The Hawks would not be shut out. With three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Aiden Foley would rush 50 yards for a touchdown to make it a 28-6 final.
“There were moments in the second quarter where I thought we got a little sloppy, but getting your first win is always a nice thing and we’re very young so every win is a confidence builder” said Plante.
Poland will host OOB next Friday night.
