SACO — The Thornton Academy football team improved to 2-0 on the year with an impressive 47-7 win over visiting Lewiston on Friday night.
Leading 7-0 after the opening quarter, the Trojans would put up 27 points in the second to take control.
Anthony Bracamonte had a 39-yard touchdown run and also caught a 22-yard TD pass from Kobe Gaudette. Gaudette would also connect with Athan Gikas for a touchdown and Grant Dow, Julien Bailey Cottle and Quinn McCollum all had TD runs in the win.
The Thornton defense got into the scoring with Eli Arsenault picking off a Lewiston pass and returning it 42 yards to the house.
South Portland 20, Massabesic 14 (OT)
Anthony Poole connected with Caden Horton for the winning touchdown in overtime as South Portland survived a scare in Waterboro.
Poole would add a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first half for South Portland.

Scarborough 1, Thornton Academy 0
Carrie Timpson scored on a corner with 19:07 left in the game to lift Scarborough to the win,
Anna Walker provided the assist for the Red Storm, who cashed in on their only shot of the game.
Thornton Academy (2-1) led 8-2 in corners and 4-1 in shots.
Scarborough goalie Abby Roy had four saves.
Marshwood 1, Sanford 0
Leah Glidden scored on a breakaway goal with just 1:57 left in regulation to send Marshwood home with the win.
Sanford was able to get a corner opportunity with no time left, but the Spartans were unable to capitalize.
Sanford’s Jordan Benvie had 14 saves in the cage and MacKenzie Tierney had one defensive save.
Marshwood goalie Sarah Arenberg had six saves.
