WISCASSET — Former Wiscasset High School baseball standout Daren Wood had the chance to play for the Ocean State Waves in the recently completed baseball season.

The Waves play out of Kingston, Rhode Island. Ocean State is one of 13 teams that play in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). Many of the players in the league are from well-respected Division I baseball schools such as Vanderbilt, Cal State Fullerton, USC and Stanford.

Wood appeared in the last

12 games of the summer baseball season. He twice played against the Sanford Mainers, where he went 2- for-5 with two RBIs. He finished with a .417 batting average.

Wood attends Widener University outside of Philadelphia, majoring in mechanical engineering.

Brunswick JV girls roll to soccer win

BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School jayvee boys soccer team earned its first win of the season with a decisive 6-0 victory over Edward Little on Tuesday.

Mia DeSantis led the charge with a hat trick, including a powerful left-foot shot from beyond the 18-yard line late in the first half.

Freshmen Mia Klimash and Piper Mann, and sophomore captain Siara Ambs also added goals of their own. Assists came from Emilienne Augustine-Biddings, defender Grace Confer and captain Carley Bunge.

The team is off to a good start this year and has been showing off its depth, with a full, strong, 11-player roster coming off the bench.

Morse football to hold ‘Military Night’

BATH — The Morse High School football team will host its annual “Military Appreciation Night” on Sept. 14.

The Shipbuilders host Lake Region at 7 p.m.

All current and former military personnel are admitted free of charge and receive a home-cooked meal from the Booster’s Shack and Pam Solow.
