
KENNEBUNKPORT — Sandy Pines Campground has announced its first annual Great Maine Camp Out to be held on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The event welcomes traditional campers or glampers for a weekend of family activities in the great outdoors.
Kids will love the Scavenger Hunt and Crafts and Story Hour, while families can eat with fellow campers at a Burger Bash featuring grilled burgers and hot dogs by the pool, and then enjoy Campfire Cooking, with a couple of tried and true campfire recipes.
And break out your favorite s’mores recipe for Sandy Pines’ S’mores Recipe Contest and Group Bonfire. Sandy Pines staff will taste and judge s’mores recipes on the spot, with the winner receiving awesome Sandy Pines prizes. A First, Second and Third Place winner will be chosen, plus a Kid’s winner.
To enter the content, simply show up with at least four servings of your dish at 7 p.m. to the Group Bonfire and Recipe Contest Judging.
Here’s a tentative schedule of events:
• Kid’s Scavenger Hunt (adults with their kids) & Crafts/Story Hour: 11 a.m.
• Burger Bash ($5 per person): 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.
• Camp Fire Cooking: – 5 p.m.
• S’Mores Recipe Contest Judging and Group Bonfire: 7 p.m.
