SKOWHEGAN — The Mt. Ararat High School jayvee boys soccer team cruised to a season-opening 8-1 win over Skowhegan on Friday.
Holden Brannen scored a pair of goals for the Eagles (1-0) off corner kicks from Will Hagan.
Tyler Gaudreau, Nick Holland, Joe Ciembroniewicz, Owen Yabsira, Michael Kane and Jonah Zell added a goal each, while assists went to Holland, Yabsira and Zell.
Alscair Lopez, Trevor Brown and Clark Tankley played well in the win, while netminders Mitchell Surace, Ahmad Tavfik and Miguel Abcalde combined on eight saves.
Mt. Ararat hosted Lewiston on Tuesday, falling 7-1.
Brown had the lone goal for the Eagles.
In goal, Surace, Tavfik and Abcalde combined on seven saves.
Lopez, Gaudreau and Will Hagan played well for Mt. Ararat, which hosts Edward Little on Friday.
