YORK COUNTY — As many of you might not know, this is the final edition of the JT Beacon, but it’s not the end of our coverage of the Wells, Kennebunk, Ogunquit, Moody and Kennebunkport areas in the Journal Tribune newspaper.
As part of our valued coverage area, the Journal Tribune and its website www.journaltribune.com will continue to provide readers with the most up-to-date, thorough and comprehensive coverage of this area on a daily basis.
Through the years as the JT Beacon, and in prior years as Making It At Home publications, we have strived to bring you news of interest and value to your communities. That commitment will not end with today’s final printed issue of the JT Beacon weekly newspaper.
Instead, much of that coverage will be highlighted and featured in the Journal Tribune, which is published Tuesday through Friday, the Journal Tribune Weekender, published on Saturday, and the free Sunday edition of the Journal Tribune.
Look for news from your communities on our website daily and also cross-listed under the JT Beacon category there.
It has been our distinct privilege to serve the readers and be a part of this community.
Perhaps American poet T.S. Eliot best summed up what we now are feeling regarding the last issue of this publication.
“What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
