BRUNSWICK — First Parish Church will host a Celtic-inspired worship service for all ages at 8:30 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Labyrinth in the Woods, 90 Maurice Drive, Brunswick. There will be music, storytelling, prayers and an opportunity to walk the labyrinth. Everyone is welcome.
The Labyrinth in the Woods was built as a joint project between First Parish Church and the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust.
Recently, the children of First Parish Church held a special family-themed worship service at the Labyrinth in the Woods. The group began by walking the labyrinth, and the worship service opened with calland response singing. Church member Candi Hine played her Native American flute and spoke a little about how she came by her extraordinary instrument.
The First Parish Church senior pastor, the Rev. Mary Baard, shared a Jewish midrash on Noah’s wife, Na’amah, in which she collects seeds while her husband pairs the animals. The children enjoyed making their best “rain storm” sounds to help tell the story. The group closed with some music and fellowship time together.
