WOOLWICH
Firefighters from several towns helped extinguish a fire that destroyed a vacant house on Meadow Road early Thursday morning.
The fire was reported at 413 Meadow Road at 1:15 a.m.
Woolwich Deputy Fire Chief Glen Kirkpatrick said the single-story house had been vacant for many years, though there was power to the building. It was badly burning when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters responded mutual aid from at least seven towns to help extinguish the fire. A few firefighters stayed on scene all night but most cleared before 5 a.m. No injuries were reported
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the fire.
