Allen R. Smith, 60, of Lisbon Falls, Maine, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at The Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Brunswick, Maine, on June 13, 1958, the son of Louise (Levasseur) Ramsey and Wendell Smith.
He attended school in Topsham and graduated from Mt. Ararat High School and upon graduation served in the Air Force. He furthered his education to become an oil and propane technician.
On March 17, 1979, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Barnhart, in Topsham, Maine. Together they lived in the Lisbon Falls area raising their young family.
After working for Downeast Energy for many years, he went into business for himself in the heating business for another 15 years before having to retire due to illness. To his family, he was like a living road map who could get you anywhere you wanted to go. He especially loved visiting lighthouses, fishing and going to the ocean.
He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Most of all he was happiest spending time surrounded by his wife, daughters, grandkids and friends.
Allen is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna Smith, two daughters: Sondra Smith and husband Nick of Lisbon Falls, Angela Smith and fiancé Todd Shoemaker of Lewiston, his mother: Louise Ramsey, mother-in-law: Tamie Barnhart, five grandchildren: Carter, Caleb and Cheyenne Smith, Ryder and Zoey Shoemaker, three brothers: Clint Smith, Scott Smith and wife Abigail and Keith Ramsey, two sisters: Tina Brandt and husband Ken, Lana Smith, sister-in-law: Jennie Baker and husband Tim, brother-in-law: Robert (Michael) Barnhart and wife Kimberlee and several nieces and nephews.
Allen was predeceased by his father:
Wendell Smith and father-in-law: Robert Barnhart.
The family would like to express their gratitude to The Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta and to the Hospice staff for the loving care they gave Allen in his final years. A heartfelt thank you to two wonderful people, his cousin David Levasseur and friend Randy Wise, who spent precious time with him. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Committal services will be private and held at The Veteran’s Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta.
