FOXBOROUGH, Mass.

The Patriots have signed free agent receiver Eric Decker in hopes of adding depth to their receiving corps.

The eight-year NFL veteran signed with New England on Friday after working out for the team this week. The Patriots are looking to give quarterback Tom Brady more options following Julian Edelman’s four-game suspension for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancers, the free agency departure of Danny Amendola and trade of Brandin Cooks.

Decker, the husband of singer Jessie James, joins his fourth NFL team. A third-round pick in the 2010 draft by Denver, the 31-yearold spent four seasons with the Broncos, three with the Jets and last season with the Titans.

He caught 54 passes for 563 yards and touchdown for Tennessee in 2017. He’s appeared in 111 games in his career with 83 starts, amassing 5,816 receiving yards and 53 touchdowns.

Browns

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns dropped Corey Coleman.

After two disappointing, injury-slowed seasons, Coleman was traded Sunday night to the Buffalo Bills for an undisclosed draft pick.

Coleman has been a bust with the Browns, who selected him with the No. 15 overall pick in 2016 — the first selection by Cleveland’s previous, analytics-driven front office. Coleman played in just 19 games over two seasons because of injuries, and he never developed into the big-play receiver Cleveland thought it was getting, so the Browns decided to get something for him while they could.

Coleman’s tenure with the Browns will be best remembered for his drop late in the fourth quarter in last season’s finale at Pittsburgh that sealed the Browns’ 0-16 finish.

But beyond Coleman’s problems on the field, he had issues outside the lines that hurt his standing with coach Hue Jackson and new general manager John Dorsey.

Saints

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton says the club has waived receiver Brandon Coleman and offensive lineman John Fullington.

Both players have been sidelined recently with injuries.

Coleman started training camp on the team’s physically unable to perform list. Payton, who discussed the moves after a practice at Tulane on Sunday night, says the receiver has hip and neck injuries that both will take longer to rehabilitate than initially anticipated.

Payton says he anticipates that Coleman will return to the Saints’ active roster again. The coach did not specify when, but it is unlikely to be this season because Coleman will wind up on injured reserve unless he’s claimed by another club.

Eagles

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Super Bowl victory gave Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman more job security.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed their coach and executive vice president of football operations to contract extensions through the 2022 season. Coming off the franchise’s first championship since 1960, the team announced the deals an hour before a sellout crowd watched an open practice Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field.

Pederson is entering his third season as coach. He originally signed a four-year contract with a club option for 2020.

49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco newcomer Richard Sherman will miss the next week of training camp and the 49ers’ preseason opener after straining a hamstring in practice Friday.

The former Seattle cornerback was hurt chasing down receiver Pierre Garcon after a long completion from Jimmy Garoppolo during a full-team drill. The three-time All-Pro returned to practice at the start of training camp after suffering a torn right Achilles in November with the Seahawks. Sherman signed a three-year $39.15 million deal in the offseason after being cut by Seattle.

Colts

WESTFIELD, Ind. (AP) — Andrew Luck could be missing his blind-side protector in Thursday night’s preseason opener at Seattle.

Left tackle Anthony Castonzo did not practice Sunday and coach Frank Reich says he is expected to miss “some time” after apparently re-injuring his right hamstring in Friday night’s practice.

Castonzo was injured initially during workouts between the end of Indy’s scheduled offseason workouts and the start of training camp. He was activated from the non-football injury list Wednesday.
