Police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old New Hampshire man who was found dead Sunday on a beach on the Saco River in Fryeburg.
Fryeburg police said officers and paramedics used an air boat to respond about 7:45 a.m. to a report of a medical emergency involving a canoeist.
Police said in a statement that responders arrived on scene to find the man from Nashua, New Hampshire, dead on the beach at mile 14 on the river. The medical emergency was reported to police by the group of friends he was canoeing with.
Police had still not released his identity as of Sunday night.
The state medical examiner’s office will determine a cause of death, police said.
