Teams competed for a cause in the seventh annual Maine Outdoor Challenge in June at the L.L. Bean Discovery School.
This year’s event generated more than $50,000 in proceeds, which will support community service and youth programs provided by the Portland Rotary Club and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine.
Over 34 teams
More than 34 teams came together to participate in three days of competitive archery, fly casting and sporting clays to support charity programs, including the Rotary Club’s Childhood Hunger and Education Initiative, and the Youth Mentoring Program at Long Creek Youth Development Center. Awards from the event were given for top team and individual performances, as well as an award for the top fundraising team.
The grand prize, the Maine Outdoor Challenge Bronze Boot Trophy, was awarded to the “Morgan Doodles” team of Morgan Stanley for the highest cumulative score across all three sporting events. The team will hold possession of the traveling trophy for the next year, which will be engraved with the winning participants’ names.
