BRUNSWICK — Register now for the 2018 Brunswick Area Football Youth League season.

BAYFL’s contact football is for players in grades 1-8, with cheerleaders from grades kindergarten to eight grade eligible to participate.

In football, the first-and second grade program is open to anyone without regards to residency. Third- through sixth-grade is open to anyone who does not have another Maine Youth Football League program in their community.

These programs are available to athletes from Bath, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Brunswick, Durham, Harpswell, Topsham and surrounding communities.

The seventh- and eighth-grade program provides the football teams for Brunswick Junior High School and Mt. Ararat Middle School.

BAYFL is a non-profit organization designed to promote the principles of good sportsmanship and fair play, while taking an interest in the physical and moral development of our youth.

Practices start Aug. 20, and opening day ceremonies on Aug. 26. Scheduling will be provided by the team’s head coach, who will contact parents immediately after teams are chosen.

BAYFL loans the participant all uniforms and protective gear, except for an athletic supporter and cleats.

Cheering practices begin mid-August and are held at the Topsham Fairgrounds field. The program runs through mid-October.

Participants in kindergarten through fifth grade are provided with a team shirt, skirt and pom-poms. Participants in grades 6-8 will receive full uniforms. There are two squads for this age group — one for the Brunswick Dragons and another for the Mt. Ararat Eagles. These teams divide their cheering time between the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade football teams. This is an opportunity to become a part of a team, learn the basics and prepare for the competition cheering season.

Cost for football is $140.00 and cheering is $55. Visit www.bayfl.org/registration for more information and links to register.
