
BRUNSWICK — The Global Premier Soccer Maine 2005 boys club recently won the U.S. Club Soccer National Championships in Aurora, Colorado.
Jack Banks and Iain Clendening, both from Brunswick, competed on the squad along with other athletes from various Maine towns.
The Phoenix went undefeated in the group stage and won 1-0 in the semifinals before defeating the Ironbound SC Super Eagles from New Jersey in a tightly contested game, 3-2.
Teams from all over the country play for state championships and regionals before heading to nationals.
