BERWICK — Police have located two boys from Berwick who authorities believe ran away from home early Monday morning.
A Berwick Police Department dispatcher said 9-year-old Charles Cameron and 11-year-old Christopher Cameron were located around 5 p.m.
The dispatcher said the boys have been reunited with their family and appear to be in good health. No additional information regarding why they may have run away was available.
Berwick police posted a notice on Facebook Monday morning reporting the boys missing. They had packed backpacks with food and clothes and left on bicycles, possibly heading to Sanford, police said.
“There is no indication of foul play,” said Berwick Officer Nicholas Higgins. “There is every indication they were running away from home.”
Higgins said the two boys live with their biological father and stepmother. He said that the decision to run away may stem from a recent disciplinary issue, but that the boys weren’t running from an abusive or dangerous situation.
Higgins said there is speculation the boys may be trying to go to Sanford to find their mother at a friend’s home.
