PORT CLYDE — The Maine Marine Patrol is investigating the death of a man whose body was found Saturday morning in Port Clyde Harbor.
Maine Marine Patrol Sgt. Wesley Dean said John Crane IV of Port Clyde was found unresponsive in the water near the Port Clyde Fisherman’s Co-op about 6:20 a.m. Saturday. Good Samaritans pulled Crane, 56, from the water, but attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, he said.
Crane was at the cooperative to go lobstering, Dean said.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene on a report of a drowning.
The state Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine whether Crane drowned or died from a medical issue, Dean said.
