Don Roy Trio brings
fiddles to gazebo

Gorham’s own Don Roy Trio will perform from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at the gazebo on the lawn at the municipal center, 75 South St.

Roy is an internationally recognized Franco-American fiddler. He and his wife, Cindy, this year have been awarded a National Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts. The Roys are one of nine recipients.

“The 2018 recipients will receive a $25,000 award and be honored in Washington, D.C., at an awards ceremony on Sept. 26, 2018, and at a free concert on Sept. 28, 2018,”  the NEA web site states.

Parking for the Gorham concert is along South Street or in the municipal lot off Ball Park Road. The free summer concert series is sponsored by Gorham Parks and Recreation Department and continues through Aug. 7.

In case of rain, the concert would move inside Shaw Gym in the municipal center.

Seniors tax relief
deadline nears

Completed applications for Gorham’s Senior Property Tax Assistance Program are due Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the Town Clerk’s Office.

Applications are available at the office, Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.; Baxter Memorial Library,71 South St.; and Gorham Recreation Office, 75 South St.

Historic archives
reopens in August

The Gorham Historical Society Archives, 28 School St., will reopen from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursdays in August.

The archives was closed in July.

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of the Fiscal Service reported on July 19 that the U.S. public debt was $21,259,998,398,094.92.
