BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College women’s volleyball team has received a Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for its work in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
It is the 11th straight year that the Polar Bears have received the honor.
On the court, the Polar Bears recorded a 15-10 record, advancing to the NESCAC semifinals last fall.
The Polar Bears will open the 2018 campaign on Sept. 5 at the University of Southern Maine.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
