There comes a time in life when we must evolve; move on to bigger and better things.
At the start of my junior year, I was continuously seeking the next chapter.
The idea that there is so much of this world to discover danced in my head. With that, a hunger grew to experience adventure — To travel the world.
In late September, I applied to a program called Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange. In short, this program was started as a way to strengthen diplomatic relations between our country and Germany. Two-hundred fifty U.S. students are fully funded by the Congress to study in Germany for a year and meet with German government officials, and vice versa. Furthermore, these students will act as ambassadors for their country.
I was interested in this program because I had yearned to be immersed in another culture; to learn their ways of life and language. I wanted to be able to teach myself about peoples while experiencing studying abroad. I am not going to go more in depth as for all the reasons I wanted to go, but long story short, I am humbled and blessed to say I’m going.
With that, it’s time to say goodbye to writing columns, and instead focus on learning a new language and prepare for studying abroad.
Throughout this past year, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my writing with the world and I am grateful to those who have read my work.
In all honesty, the journey of sharing my writing was long. I often found myself struggling to balance the business of Junior year studies and extracurriculars while writing my columns.
It was challenging to pick a set day every week to sit down and write. This was due to the fact that my schedule was always changing. However, I still got it done because I enjoyed it.
Though I’m busy studying abroad this year, I will still find the time to write on my own. With that, I have come to the conclusion that I want to start a blog.
There, it is self-paced and more personalized, considering my preference towards writing is personal. The ultimate goal of this blog would be to track my own personal growth over the years – Share stories, recipes, adventures, etc.
Anything that I can share about my life through the next few years can be documented in no minimum or maximum word amount.
Final words — Once again, I would like to thank those who have read my columns this past year. My most cherished experience was when I would have random people come up to me and say they read my columns. To know that people enjoy my writing is truly humbling and I’ll never forget that.
With that, Auf Wiedersehen to you, as they say in German. (Goodbye)
