A Rhode Island man involved in an ATV crash on July 4 in Mount Vernon has died from his injuries.
Ryan Lacroix, 38, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, was found unresponsive in the roadway by a passing motorist on Pond Road in Mount Vernon at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July, according to a news release Monday from the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
Lacroix appeared to have been thrown off the ATV and landed in the travel lane of Pond Road, police said. He was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Police said they were notified July 8 that Lacroix had died because of injuries suffered in the crash. Lacroix was in Maine to visit family and friends.
The release said preliminary investigation indicates speed, alcohol and driver inexperience may have been contributing factors in the crash.
