SANFORD — A crew of volunteers from UNUM participated in the recent United Way Day of Caring. Two of the many Waban group homes benefited from these annual efforts.

Staff from Waban’s Morrell’s Mill Home and volunteers from UNUM raked, weeded and mulched to give the homes a great head start for the summer season, said Waban spokeswoman Selena Brock.

More than 70  volunteers chose to give their time to Waban homes and programs this year. Waban Executive Director Neal Meltzer thanked the group over lunch, “We couldn’t do it without you!” he said.
