PORTLAND
Zach Green hit a two-run home run and had two hits, driving in four as the Reading Fightin Phils defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 9-1, on Thursday. With the victory, the Fightin Phils swept the four-game series.
Reading took the lead in the first when it scored five runs, including a two-run double by Green.
The Fightin Phils later added two runs in both the third and seventh innings. In the third, Green hit a two-run home run, while Darick Hall hit a two-run single in the seventh.
Reading left-hander JoJo Romero (5-5) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on just three hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Kyle Hart (5-4) took the loss in the Eastern League game after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and eight hits over six innings.
With the win, Reading improved to 12-4 against Portland this season.
