OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Lori Gramlich won the Democratic primary for State House District 13, covering the town of Old Orchard Beach.

Gramlich beat Jay Kelley 713 to 302, and will run against Republican Sharri Macdonald on Nov. 6.

The House District 13 seat is being vacated by Democrat George Hogan.

Gramlich, 55, owns the Rise Up Café with her husband, Bob Kelly. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Southern Maine Social Work Department and is executive director of the National Association of Social Workers Maine Chapter.

Gramlich said throughout her career as a social worker, she has advocated for the rights of workers, for children, for seniors and for those who need to have their voices heard. If elected to the Legislature, she said, she will use her skills and expertise to be an effective voice for the community.

In addition, she said, she would  be committed to the success of small businesses in town.
