Buxton police charged eight people with criminal trespassing after they were found using a town-owned picnic table to fuel a bonfire in Pleasant Point Park.

The group – which included four juveniles – was found during a check of the 60-acre park when Officer James Bradbury found two cars parked in violation of park hours. Police said it was the first major incident of the summer season at the park.

Cody Logan, 21, of Buxton, Bryan Plourde, 21, of Limington and Jacob Estey, 18, of Steep Falls were each charged with criminal trespass. Logan was taken to York County Jail in Alfred pending arraignment. Plourde and Estey were released on bail with conditions not to return to Pleasant Point Park.

Alexis Petty, 19, of Windham was charged with criminal trespass and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, then released on bail with conditions not to return to the park.

Two 17-year-old boys from Buxton, a 16-year-old Buxton girl and a 15-year-old Standish boy were charged with criminal trespass and released to their parents pending court appearances.

Buxton police continue to investigate the burning of the picnic table.
