BRUNSWICK

The Brunswick High School girls tennis team opened the Class A North postseason with a 4-1 quarterfinal victory over seventh seeded Bangor on Wednesday.

The Dragons (12-1) will host either No. 3 Messalonskee or No. 6 Skowhegan in the semifinals on Saturday, with the tentative time set for 1 p.m.

Anna Parker won at No. 1 singles for second-seeded Brunswick, downing Bangor’s Alice Wang, 6-1, 6-1. The Dragons picked up another point at No. 2 singles, with Lea Scrapchansky winning out over Alana Broughton, 6-0, 6-1.

Bangor (5-8) captured its lone point at No. 3 singles behind Lelia Davids 6-0, 6- 1 win over Lia Rand.

Brunswick swept doubles. Abby Parke and Galen Gaze rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory, while Erin Coughlin and Ella Perham captured a 6-1, 6-1 win.

Boys lacrosse

AUBURN — Steel Crawford tallied eight points to power Freeport to an 18-2 Western Maine Conference win over St. Dom’s.

The victory gives the Falcons a 1-10 mark heading into Friday’s home finale against York (6 p.m.).

Crawford had two goals and six assists, with Ben Gormley tallying four goals. Harrison Johnson and Kaleb Barrett each picked up a hat trick, while netminder Garrison Thompson made eight saves.

We finally played our game. Our passing, catching and ability to pick up a ground ball finally seemed to happen. The team played really well and with heart,” said Freeport coach Geoff Arris.

WELLS — Taylor Rinaldi recorded four goals and one assist to power Freeport to a WMC 188 victory over Wells.

The Falcons are 8-3 and riding a four-game winning streak heading into Friday’s key contest against St. Dom’s.

Margaret Perrotta added three goals in the win, while Chloe Davidson, Taylor Dostie, Allison Greuel and Paige Rinaldi each had two goals. Molly Whelan, Emma Carter each finished with a goal each, while Jessie Driscoll added an assist.

Cameryn Pasquale made five saves in the first half and Piper Sherbert made nine in the second in the Freeport cage.
