BRUNSWICK
Brunswick High School students returned to school Tuesday to find an interim principal in place of Principal Shanna Crofton.
Already planning to leave her post at the end of the school year to become curriculum coordinator, Crofton began her maternity leave earlier than expected. In a letter to students and parents Friday, Superintendent Paul Perzanoski announced that she would begin maternity leave on Tuesday.
Anne Cass will serve as interim principal until the end of the school year.
According to Perzanoski, she has 31 years of experience as a principal, most at the high school level. She has worked in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Oregon,
Connecticut and in Scarborough before retiring last year. She lives in Maine.
“She comes highly recommended,” Perzanoski wrote, “and we are lucky to have someone of her caliber to assist us at a busy time of year.”
The school department’s search committee conducted interviews for Crofton’s replacement last week. They will invite two finalists to spend half a day at the high school in the next couple weeks, when they will spend time meeting with students, staff and parents.
The committee will review the feedback it gets and decide who to send to Perzanoski for an interview.
His goal is to try to have a final candidate to recommend to the school board at its June 13 meeting.
