BRUNSWICK — On Sunday, Merrymeeting Community Rowing Association’s Quinn Solberg and Adam Thacker, seniors at Brunswick High School, captured the silver medal in the boys double sculls event at the eighth annual Moose on the Malden Regatta in Massachusetts.
Solberg and Thacker dueled the crew from Camden Hills all the way down the 1,400-meter course, edged at the finish in the final few strokes in one of the best races of the day.
Merrymeeting’s varsity girls four, with Brunswick seniors Paige MacKinnon (stroke), Cordelia Horch, Elina Woolever, sophomore Emily Swan, and freshman coxswain Julia Pols, competed hard in their morning heat, but just missed out in making the afternoon finals while finishing eighth.
Merrymeeting is hosting the Maine Youth Rowing Association’s championship regatta at Pinette’s Landing on the Androscoggin River the morning of June 2, where these crews and the team’s novice rowers will compete.
