TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School seventh grade softball team picked up a 10-9 win over Lewiston on Thursday.
The Eagle were led offensively by Angel Huntsman (triple, double), Reagan Robertson (two singles), Hannah Hawkes (double, single), and Alex Durant (two singles). Emelia Baker, Piper Cohen, Libby Anderson, Leah Hickman and Mickelle Lafrance each added a hit to the 13-hit Eagles attack.
Mt. Ararat never trailed, scoring two runs in each of the first three innings. A pair of two-run frames in the fifth and sixth allowed the Eagles to hang on as Lewiston mounted a comeback late in the contest by scoring two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Robertson got two quick outs in the seventh. Two singles followed, but Robertson struck out the final Blue Demon to end it. Robertson went the distance for Mt. Ararat, striking out six and walking five.
The Eagles will host St. John’s today.
