BRUNSWICK

Austin Damon scooted home with the game’s only run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning as the Mt. Ararat High School baseball team edged Brunswick, 1-0, in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference “Battle of the Bridge” clash on Friday.

Mt. Ararat’s Hunter Lohr and Brunswick’s Noah Goddard hooked up in a classic pitcher’s duel. Lohr struck out seven, hit a batter and allowed just four hits for the win, while Goddard went the distance on four hits, four strikeouts, one walk and a hit batter.

Kyle Brennan had a pair of singles for the Eagles, who improved to 8-5 and visits Hampden Academy today at 4:15 p.m. Cam Grant and Dakota Lopez added a single each.

Dalton Dickey, Scout Masse, Ichino Honda and Coenradt Taylor had a single each for the Dragons, who fell to 3-11 and hosts Morse on Thursday at 4 p.m.

MT. BLUE 0

The Eagles rolled to a KVAC win over the Cougars at Farmington on Thursday.

Mt. Ararat struck for three first-inning runs, and pulled away late with three more in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Nick Merrill had three hits for Mt. Ararat, while Austin Damon and Nate Leslie added two.

Damon went six innings for the mound win with eight strikeouts, while Ben Freeman tossed a scoreless seventh.

VINALHAVEN 0- 3

The Bobcats improved to 10-0 with an E-WC sweep of Vinalhaven/North Haven on Saturday.

Zach Small recorded a home run, three doubles, six hits and six RBIs for Richmond. Small homered and had two doubles in the first game, and winning pitcher Andrew Vachon struck out nine.

Small, Vachon and Matt Rines each had three hits in the second game, and Danny Stewart, Nate Kendrick and Trystin Shea had two hits apiece. Justin Vachon struck out four in a complete-game victory.

The Vikings fell to 5-5.

Richmond hosts Buckfield on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

BRIDGEWAY 41

Evan Bess, Evan Holzworth and Jacob Atwood all had four hits in the Bandits’ Mountain Valley Conference win over the Wolverines on Friday. .

Eric Wescott pitched five innings for Madison/ Carrabec (7-5).

Wiscasset fell to 0-12 and hosts Hall-Dale today at 4 p.m.

VINALHAVEN — Caitlin Kendrick had five hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs as Richmond rolled to an East-West Conference sweep of Vinalhaven on Saturday.

The Bobcats (10-0) won the opener, 13-1, and rolled to a 14-1 victory in Game 2.

In the first game, Sydney Underhill-Tilton struck out nine and allowed five hits for the mound win. Bryannah Shea singled three times and drove in a pair, while Paige Lebel had two hits and drove in two.

Vinalhaven pitcher Gillian Davis-Oakes struck out four and walked 11. Paige Denison, Davis-Oakes, Ashlyn Littlefield, Carolyn Hopkins and Amber Shane each singled.

Kendrick pitched a fourhitter in the second contest and added three singles and two RBIs. Bryanne Lancaster chipped in three singles, with Shea, Ashley Brown and Lebel picking up two hits apiece.

Littlefield walked three and permitted 15 hits on the mound for the Vikings.

Richmond hosts Sacopee Valley today at 3:30 p.m.

The visiting Eagles scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to pull away for a KVAC win over Brunswick on Friday.

Mt. Ararat had 18 hits to Brunswick’s 13, led by Emily Wormwood, who was 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Camille Rowe and Amanda O’Neill both had three hits and combined for eight RBIs, while Jaden Lohr and Kayleigh Temple pounded out two hits apiece. Temple doubled and drove in three.

Shea Sullivan launched a home run for the Dragons and tripled. She drove in two runs. Alexis Guptill, Morgan Plourde, Tianna Bernier and Tanisha McKenzie each had two hits.

After a wild first inning that saw the Eagles leading, 7-5, Mt. Ararat pitcher Rowe settled down for the win.

Mt. Ararat is 6-6 and visits Hampden Academy today at 4:15 p.m.

BRUNSWICK 3

BANGOR 15

The host Rams scored six runs in the fifth inning to pull away for a KVAC win on Saturday.

Down 7-0 in the fifth, Brunswick (0-14) put together six hits to score three runs. Brunswick was led offensively by freshman Hannah Fortier, who had two hits, including a double to left field.

Morgan Carter-Moulton had two hits and drove in five runs for Bangor.

The Dragons are slated to host Morse on Thursday at 3 p.m.

LISBON 11

SPRUCE MTN. 12

Spruce Mountain slipped past Lisbon in Mountain Valley Conference play in 12 innings on Friday at Jay.

Abby Ortiz hit a walk-off, bases-loaded double to win it for the Phoenix (7-4).

Down by two in the seventh, the Greyhounds (8-3) tied the game. Mallory Fairbanks had three hits in the loss, including a pair of doubles.

The Phoenix outhit Lisbon, 21-14, with Juju Doiron, Hannah Turcotte and Ortiz picking up four hits each.

Lisbon visits Winthrop today at 4 p.m.

Boys lacrosse

TOPSHAM — Zachary Harvey scored four goals to power Deering to a 10-7 victory over Mt. Ararat on Friday.

The Eagles have dropped five straight and are 5-5 heading into Tuesday’s home contest with Messalonskee (6:30 p.m.).

Connor Brown had four goals for Mt. Ararat, with Eli Schoenberg and Owen Kelly adding a goal and an assist each. Zach Caouette dished out two helpers and had four ground balls, while Keegan Brown picked up a goal.

Omar Contreras, Payson Harvey and Nicholas Jamer had two goals apiece for Deering.

Girls lacrosse

GORHAM — Chloe Davidson struck for three goals and two assists as Freeport edged Gorham, 10-8, in a Western Maine Conference clash on Friday.

The Falcons improved to 5-3, while the Rams fell to 3- 5.

Freeport led 7-1 at the half, with Margaret Perotta scoring twice.

Bridget Rossignol had four goals for Gorham.

Freeport hosts Waynflete on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

LAKE REGION 18

MORSE 6

Lindsay Keenan erupted for five goals and four assists to power the Lakers (8-1) to a win over the Shipbuilders (4- 5) in Bath on Friday.

Morse, which hosts Brunswick today at 5 p.m., only trailed 10-6 at the intermission.

Rachel Shanks had three goals and three helpers in the win, with Melissa Bonenfant adding four goals, and Lauren Jakobs three goals and an assist. Shauna Hancock chipped in a goal and two helpers.

Maddie McDonough led Morse with three goals, while Emily Martin added two goals and one assist. Mae Winglass and Emily Belanger picked up a goal each, with Macie Gagne dishing out an assist.

Zenaide McCarthy and Abby Sreden combined on 12 saves in the Morse cage. Lake Region won 17-of-26 draw controls.
