I pick up litter on my street about once a week, from the top of the hill on Danforth Street to the bottom.
Here’s a list of some of the debris I retrieved today: two syringes, three empty condom packages, a can of malt liquor (8 percent alcohol by volume), over a dozen Dunkin’ Donuts napkins, cups and sacks, and a cardboard box that had contained a raised toilet seat. The box was in eight or nine large pieces.
I bypass cigarette filters. There are just too many of them. Too bad, because they don’t compost; they’re plastic.
