BATH — Keith Laser of Bath was elected school superintendent of Alternative Organizational Structure 98 by the district’s board May 7.
Laser is currently the superintendent of Regional School Unit No. 67 in Lincoln, a position he’s held for the past four years. His previous positions include school superintendent in Calais and assistant superintendent of the Auburn School Department. He has also worked as principal of elementary schools in Maryland and Pennsylvania, and eight years as high school principal in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Laser, originally from Reading, is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He retired from the Navy after a distinguished career as a naval aviator, having flown more than 3,000 hours and was the commanding officer of a helicopter squadron. Additionally, he served as the navigator on two nuclear aircraft carriers. In addition to his degree from the Naval Academy, Laser has master’s degrees from the Naval War College, Salve Regina University and Loyola University Maryland. He earned a Doctor of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University.
AOS 98 covers the communities of Georgetown, Edgecomb. Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport.
