BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Junior High School eighth-grade softball team defeated Mt. Ararat, 6-3, on Thursday.
Gabby West started in the circle for the Eagles with two scoreless innings.
In the third inning, Riley Smith started up the Brunswick bats with a triple. She was driven home by a Kelsey Sullivan single, who was then brought home by Mia Klimash’s home run. Riley McAllaster followed with a double and she later scored, making the score 4-0.
Jazzy Huntsman came into pitch in the fourth inning, allowing no Brunswick runs.
Huskies pitcher Morgan Foster kept Mt. Ararat scoreless until the fourth inning when a double by Gabby West was followed by hits from Megan Reed and Morgan Ruff to score two.
A hit by Huntsman set her up to score in the bottom of the fifth.
Pitcher Megan Reed provided scoreless fifth and sixth innings for Mt. Ararat until a home run by Sullivan in the seventh. Klimash followed with a single. She eventually scored the sixth and last run.
The Brunswick defense held strong for the win, featuring two double plays and Foster tallying 10 strikeouts.
